For individuals who have current work authorization and are proficient in English, the Canal Alliance Workforce Development programs train clients for employment opportunities in high-demand fields that offer living wage salaries. We now offer five career pathway programs.

Become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)! This training program, offered in partnership with College of Marin and By the Bay Health, prepares graduates to work in the medical field as CNAs. We are currently accepting applications for those who are interested in joining this training program.
  • Schedule
    • Classes: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 8 AM – 4 PM 
    • Clinicals: 6:45 AM – 3 PM (second half of the course) 
    • Duration: 12 weeks (about 3 months) 
  • Partner Organizations: College of Marin, By the Bay Health 
  • Requirements
    • HS/GED diploma (local or international) 
    • Age: 18+ 
    • English Level: Intermediate/Advanced 
    • Work Authorization required 
  • Skills Taught
    • Patient personal care, communication, environmental control, safety, nutrition, rehabilitation, special procedures, Interviewing and resume building
Train to become a bus operator for Golden Gate Transit! We are currently accepting applications for those who are interested in joining this training program.

  • Schedule: 
    • Pre-apprenticeship: Tuesdays, 6 PM – 9 PM; Thursdays, 8 AM – 4 PM (two weeks); Saturdays, 8 AM – 4 PM (one week) 
    • Duration: 3 weeks 
  • Partner Organizations: Santa Rosa Junior College, College of Marin, Golden Gate Transit 
  • Requirements: 
    • Work Permit, clean driver’s license 
    • Education: HS Diploma/GED/HISET or successful completion of a skills test 
    • English Level: Intermediate/Advanced 
  • Skills Taught
  • Bus operating training, Class B license acquisition, customer service, rules of driving a bus, Interviewing, and resume building.

Our “Construyendo Mi Negocio” class is a 10-session course designed to help entrepreneurs set up and run a successful small business. For more information and to register, click here or please call us at 415-306-0464 today.

Classes begin on August 1st and finish on August 31st, 2023. The class meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 pm – 9 pm.

Please note that “Construyendo Mi Negocio” classes are taught virtually and in Spanish.

  • Requirements: 
    • Must speak Spanish 
  • Skills Taught: 
    • Advertising, budgeting, goal setting, mission/vision, business operations, accounting, financial statements, cost analysis, sales forecasting, market research, and competitive analysis. 

Canal Alliance in conjunction with the College of Marin and the Marin Builders Association offers a Construction Skills Certificate Program for the community wishing to enter the construction industry. The training is offered twice a year and lasts 12 weeks. Classes are during accessible times in the afternoons/evenings and on weekends.
