Canal Alliance’s University Prep (UP!) Program is deeply grounded upon the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to succeed. The UP! program works alongside Latino first generation youth from sixth grade through high school through intensive afterschool academic programming. The program focuses on students earning B and C grades, including English Language Learners and youth from very low-income families with recent immigration experiences. UP! offers a platform of stability to students who are often facing struggles with finances, academics, and life in general, helping them become confident, focused, and forward-thinking, with the ultimate goal of graduating from high school feeling prepared, supported, and ready to tackle what comes after.
This year, UP! is dedicated to improving performance and increasing persistence. Support from the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) makes this possible. EOF funds organizations across Marin County with a primary focus on expanding access to education, and its partnership reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that young people have the resources they need to thrive. Through expanded advising, strengthened academic support, increased leadership development opportunities, and reliable financial assistance, EOF helps eliminate barriers that can hinder student success.
Canal Alliance is proud to have built a strong and collaborative relationship with EOF and its Executive Director, Lynda Greene. With EOF’s continued investment and belief in our students, the UP! program can expand life-changing educational opportunities and help even more youth in Marin achieve their goals.
