Canal Alliance celebrated its inaugural High Road Transportation Career Pathway Program graduation
on July 15. This automotive workforce training program was developed based on findings of
the City of Rafael’s Equitable Low Carbon Economy Plan and research with local transportation employers,
in partnership with the LIME Foundation, the City of San Rafael, the Workforce Alliance of the North
Bay and Good Green Work.
The project will create equitable access to transportation careers as California policy drives change
to address emissions. With this comes the need for new skills and creates new job and
entrepreneurship opportunities.
Over 50 students applied to participate in the program. Based on local employer hiring criteria,
14 participants were selected for this pilot based on their aptitudes, motivation and experience. Each
participant has now completed the training and is ready to work in the automotive industry.
