All 60 Family Empowerment families have at least one child enrolled in our Youth Education and Development Program (YEDP). YEDP is a significant commitment between the family and Canal Alliance: when families sign the contract, they are promising to do everything in their power to support their child’s pursuit of high school graduation and a four-year college degree. The student makes a personal commitment to attend YEDP three hours a day, five days a week, from September through May – half again as much time in the classroom as other students.
