Current Volunteer Opportunities

Canal Clean-Up Days

The Canal Youth Concilio sponsors a monthly Canal Cleanup Day.
We meet at Canal Alliance at 9:30am on the designated Saturday. We will distribute bags, gloves, and maps that include an assigned street, per team. Teams, typically consisting of 2-4 people then proceed to their assigned location to clean up their street. Cleaning consists of team members picking up both trash and recyclables. When they fill a bag, a tricycle-recycler comes by picking up the bag so our volunteers do not have to be concerned with heavy lifting. We, generally, return to Canal Alliance before 12pm. Refreshments are provided.

PG&E has been a big supporter of Canal Alliance for many years. Their support enables us to address basic needs by providing emergency food and financial assistance, as well as to promote self-sufficiency and employability by providing English as a Second Language (ESL), computer literacy and financial education classes, small business development training, and other income enhancement programs.
