Through a range of basic, intermediate, and advanced economic development strategies, we serve clients at all levels of need along the path to economic self-sufficiency. Programs include English as a Second Language (ESL), Vocational ESL classes, small business development workshops, computer training, job fairs, and technical assistance to micro entrepreneurial ventures, financial education, asset development programs, and community tax preparation events. In May 2010, we officially launched the Sustainable Business Center (SBC) which provides training and support services to help entrepreneurs launch and grow their businesses.
Applicants must have Spanish fluency in order to:
- Support Canal Entrepreneurs to develop business goals and objectives
- Support growth of Canal entrepreneur and small business network
- Develop and maintain small business directory to promote healthy business growth
- Support continuous process improvement of small business intake and support system to ensure efficient service delivery by the SBC.
- Support collaborative efforts with other small business oriented entities.
Candidates must be registered AmeriCorps VISTA members (http://www.americorps.gov/for_individuals/choose/vista.asp) and have full time availability for service February 2012-2013.
