Technology Training

We offer two types of computer classes: a comprehensive 20-session training and a shorter 4 session training.  The 60-hour (5-month) technology-training in Spanish is designed to help participants overcome technology and economic barriers. Canal Alliance created and now regularly updates the curriculum while staff and former students teach the classes.

These classes are taught in the 16 station computer lab at Pickleweed Park Community Center and Library in partnership with City of San Rafael Community Services.  Approximately 120 students per year complete the training, which has 5 modules – Windows Computer Basics, Internet/Email, Online Financial Resources, Microsoft Word/Open Office Writer and Microsoft Excel/OpenOffice Calc.  Classes are scheduled in the morning, evenings and on weekends so that everyone can find time to take a class.

One month computer "Boot Camp" courses are taught in Canal Alliance’s 12-station Community Technology Center on weeknights and Saturdays.  Classes cover topics such as Windows Computer Basics, Internet/Email, Craigslist, Resumes and other topics.
