Norma speaking with San Rafael Mayor ALbert Boro
Norma originally worked for a housecleaning company, but when they were unable to accommodate her schedule after she had a baby, Norma decided to start her own housecleaning business. She enrolled in our Spanish Language Technology Training program, where she received a donated computer and comprehensive computer training which included instruction on how to use the website Craigslist to find work. After a few months of advertising on Craigslist, Norma had 15 clients.
To continue to grow her business, Norma enrolled in our Spanish Language Small Business Training where she learned how to manage her cash flow, control expenses and market her company. She worked with our Business and Technology Coordinator to formalize her business with a new name, Marin Cleaning Services, obtain a business license and have a website developed: www.marincleaningservices.com. She now has 3 employees servicing 25 residential customers and 5 commercial accounts, and focuses her time on managing her employees and the business.
