Tom Wilson

Tom Wilson has been executive director of the Canal Alliance since January, 1992. He is a fourth-generation California native and has worked in nonprofit organizations since 1986.

He is also Executive Director of Canal Housing Alliance, an affiliate of Canal Alliance, which owns and operates affordable housing in the Canal neighborhood. He has served on a number of Boards, including the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership and the Legal Self-Help Center of Marin.

He was founding president of the board of Ecology House, Inc., and past president of the Coordinated Youth Services Council of Marin.

Under Tom’s leadership, Canal Alliance received the U.S. Mayors’ End Hunger Award and the Beryl H. Buck Award for Achievement for Promoting Diversity and Inclusiveness. Tom was honored personally with the Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award, and the Benjamin Dreyfus Civil Liberties award.
