A native of New Jersey, Sandy moved to California in 1979. She received her BA degree in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley. During her senior year , Sandy joined Canal Alliance, directing the after-school childcare program.

Sandy now directs the Family Resource Program that serve over 3,000 clients annually. She has served on the Marin County Child Care Commission, the Canal Kid’s Task Force and First Five Community Committee.
As a member of the Canal Alliance family for more than 20 years, Sandy has watched youth evolve. “One of the greatest gifts of my time at Canal Alliance is seeing the kids I knew in the childcare program become young adult leaders in the community.”
She is an almost fluent Spanish speaker and lives with her husband in San Rafael.
