Miguel Godoy

MiguelMiguel Godoy came to the US from Mexico when he was eight years old. He joined the YEDP program as a teenager after moving to the Canal from Southern California. Miguel began at Canal Alliance as an intern and went on to serve as the High School Program Coordinator, developing program curriculum for YEDP high school students.

As a Canal resident he has served on the Pickleweed Community Center Advisory Board. In 2007 he was invited to join the Canal Alliance Board of Directors.
In 2010, Miguel was promoted to Co-Director of YEDP. Miguel brings an energetic teaching style to YEDP youth, drawing on his personal experience as an immigrant to provide strong mentorship and leadership to his students as a teacher and facilitator YEDP’s high school leadership group
Miguel enjoys giving back to the community in which he lives. “When I was in school, I had no dreams and didn’t know what opportunities were out there. At YEDP, I enjoy being a role model to our youth and use my strong communication skills and vision to guide student’s growth and open their eyes to the possibilities in life.”
Miguel is enrolled at College of Marin and plans to transfer to a four-year college to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
