Melissa Brandan

MelissaBorn in Argentina, Melissa immigrated to the Bay Area with her parents when she was three years old. She trained as a legal assistant at La Raza Centro Legal, worked in the private sector, but found ultimately she preferred to work with immigrants – people with whom she shared a common experience.

At Canal Alliance, Melissa does just that. She is the first person to meet with Immigration Department clients: assessing their needs, directing them to the appropriate immigration legal service and helping them prepare for the next step in their legal process. When needed, Melissa also provides translation for immigration clients in San Francisco.

"The fact that we are a part of the community makes it easier and more comfortable for members of the community to come to us for help – they know and trust us."

Melissa lives in Richmond, with her partner, her son Lucas, their dog, and two cats.
