In 1995, after a career as a preschool teacher, Lillian started to volunteer at Canal Alliance's day care center. Shortly thereafter, she was hired to work at the front desk, and in 2000, became a Family Advocate.
Now, as Family Advocate, Lillian helps clients access needed services, referring them to appropriate Canal Alliance programs or to other services offered by agencies in the community.
In her role as Domestic Violence Specialist, Lillian facilitates a weekly women's domestic violence support program.
Watching her clients learn to stand up for themselves inspires her. "This is a place to grow. I love my job."
Lillian is originally from Guatemala and has lived in the Canal community since 1982. She is bilingual.
