Kati Barahona

Kati-copy2Kati Barahona, a Bay Area native, graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a concentration in Sociology and Literature in 2010. She is currently our College and Career Readiness Coordinator, working directly with our college students.

Kati has worked with youth in underserved communities for the past four years, working with them to achieve their academic and personal endeavors.
As a teen, she attended a youth program where she was supported by the staff who worked with her to navigate the education system.

She recognizes that many youth do not have the knowledge or resources to access higher education; thus she encourages them to be active forces in questioning, understanding and challenging the education system in the United States.

“Most Chican@/Latin@ youth feel that they don’t have control over their lives. My goal is for them to take control of their education, articulate their aspirations, dreams and needs in order to define their success and take control of their life.”
