Jamie works with the Canal Alliance English as a Second Language (ESL) Program and assists with job training and economic development efforts.
Before coming to Canal Alliance, Jamie worked at Marin Food Bank where she was a volunteer coordinator and administrative assistant. Currently, she lives in Novato where she also volunteers as an ESL teacher at Jumpstart Network, Inc. Jamie also participated in the English Opens Doors Program as an EFL teacher in Chile and interned as an ESL teacher at the American Language and Culture Institute in Chico. She enjoys teaching, traveling, helping underprivileged people and researching issues related to second/foreign language acquisition.
Jamie completed her M.A. in Teaching International Languages with a graduate certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at California State University, Chico.
Her Bachelor’s degrees are in Pre-Credential Spanish and Latin American Studies with Minors in Linguistics and Japanese. She has taught English and Japanese to elementary, high school and university students around the globe.
