Domestic Violence Prevention |
Launched in 1997, Grupo Dignidad, is a peer support group for Spanish-speaking domestic violence survivors. Participation ranges from 8 to 12 at each meeting, and the group meets weekly.
Grupo Respeto
Grupo Respeto is a court mandated domestic violence treatment program for Spanish-speaking perpetrators. Approximately 50 men attend per week to learn skills that help them cease the abuse.
Child Abuse Prevention
Each year, our staff case-manages 30 Differential Response referrals (unopened child abuse cases) from Marin County Child Protective Services. We receive these cases because we are the only agency in the Canal that provides comprehensive family case management, wraparound services, and referrals.
Survivor Protection – Legal Referrals
Because most of our clients are immigrants, the issue of legal status is a huge factor in domestic violence in our community. Our Family Resource Specialists refer clients to Canal Alliance’s Immigration Legal Services attorneys, or to other area attorneys for legal for domestic violence protection through U Visas, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), and asylum, so they can escape violence without risking their residence.
