Community Gardens

The Youth Concilio and the Comite de Vecinos del Canal are working hard on a campaign to green their community. Through their efforts they have launched five community gardens to date. They are located at building 211 Canal Street, 330 Canal Street, 78 Novato Street, 355 Larkspur Street and 129 Canal Street. This could not be possible without the help of many organizations and individuals who have donated not only materials but labor for this to happen, so thank you to Permaculture Marin, Arbol, Marin Organic, American Soil, Master Gardeners and all of our volunteers.

The hope of these groups is that neighbors from these buildings become more aware of where their food comes from, they eat healthier foods and strengthen relationships with their each other.

In the most recent garden installation, the Youth Concilio partnered with the Boy Scout troop 2000 and Summer Search North Bay as part of Make a Difference Day. San Rafael Mayor Al Boro awarded the service of these youth by presenting them with the Jefferson Award.
