Dear Representative,
We are outraged at recent ICE activities in Northern California, particularly in the Canal community in San Rafael. We want to voice our opposition to these raids – they are tearing apart families in our community and we want your support.
Specifically, we want to stop:
Ethnic profiling by ICE in our Latino communities throughout northern and central California
Fugitive recovery operations where entire families including some U.S citizen children, rather than those individuals under final orders, have been arrested
Arrests of whomever may currently be residing at the former address of individuals sought by ICE or occupants of neighboring residences
ICE failure, in some instances, to call Child Protective Services when parents have been arrested. We believe that the detention of U.S. citizen children for whom there is no arrest warrant may violate California or federal law. We have also received reports that detainees have been pressured into signing stipulated removal orders without access to legal or family counsel.
ICE from identifying themselves as "Police" when local law enforcement departments are trying to build trust with residents in order to enforce local laws.
